Paul Chambers - Bass On Top - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
180g Vinyl, All-Analog Blue Note Tone Poet Series
When bass virtuoso Paul Chambers recorded Bass On Top, his third and final album as a leader for Blue Note, he was only 22 yet already one of the top bassists in jazz. This seductive set features Hank Jones (piano), Kenny Burrell (guitar) and Art Taylor (drums). Highlights include a chamber-jazz reading of Jerome Kern's "Yesterdays" and a lightly swinging "Dear Old Stockholm." Mastered all-analog from the original tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI.
