Fifty years after his self-titled solo debut, Paul McCartney returns with McCartney III, a stripped-back, self-produced and quite literally solo work in the tradition of 1970's McCartney and 1980's McCartney II. Recorded at his Sussex studio during the isolation of 2020, it was mostly built from live takes of Paul on vocals and guitar or piano with overdubbed bass and drums, spanning soul-searching to playful to raucous moods, often using vintage gear and instruments with storied histories.
