A Momentary Lapse of Reason is the 13th studio album by Pink Floyd, released in September 1987. It was the first Pink Floyd album made after the departure of bassist and primary songwriter Roger Waters, with David Gilmour leading the project alongside drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright. Recorded largely on Gilmour's converted houseboat studio, Astoria, the album steps away from a single central theme in favor of a collection of songs, and produced enduring favorites such as "Learning to Fly" and "On the Turning Away."
