The third album by Popol Vuh, the collective founded in Germany by Florian Fricke in 1969. Hosianna Mantra marked a departure from the band's first two records: Fricke abandoned the Moog synthesizer in favor of acoustic instrumentation such as piano, oboe, and tambura, with evocative vocals by Korean singer Djong Yun and guitar from Conny Veit. Its fusion of ethnic, classical, and ambient influences remains one of the most beautiful works to emerge from 1970s Germany. This Esoteric Recordings edition was cut at Abbey Road Studios and replicates the original album artwork.
