Blue Note founder Alfred Lion considered Andrew Hill to be a pianist and composer every bit as strikingly original as Thelonious Monk. Perhaps overshadowed by its predecessor Point of Departure, 1964's Andrew!!! has remained an unfairly underrated entry in Hill's magnificent Blue Note discography. A quintet featuring saxophonist John Gilmore, vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, bassist Richard Davis, and drummer Joe Chambers brings six of Hill's mercurial inside-out compositions to life. This Tone Poet edition was produced by Joe Harley and mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes.
