Organist Big John Patton was deep in a groove by the time he recorded his seventh Blue Note album, That Certain Feeling, in March 1968 with Junior Cook on tenor saxophone, Jimmy Ponder on guitar and Clifford Jarvis on drums. The album puts the emphasis on Patton's writing, with originals that range from deep-pocket funk to modal vamps.
