Cal Tjader - The Prophet - Verve Vault Series LP
$27.99
Verve Vault Series, 180 Gram Vinyl, Mastered from Analog Tapes
Cal Tjader's The Prophet, recorded and released in 1968 on Verve, captures the vibraphonist expanding his signature Latin jazz into a more orchestrated, textural sound. Arranged and conducted by Don Sebesky, it features João Donato on organ, Red Mitchell on bass, Ed Thigpen on drums, and Hubert Laws on flute, with several compositions penned by Donato. From the breezy bossa nova of 'Tema Teimoso' to the introspective 'The Loner,' it's a cohesive, forward-looking statement. The Verve Vault series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
