Dizzy Reece - Star Bright - Blue Note Classic LP
180g Vinyl LP — Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series, Mastered by Kevin Gray from the Original Master Tapes
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, trumpeter Dizzy Reece made fans of Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins on the European scene before Alfred Lion brought him to New York. Lion quickly put him in the studio with a first-rate hard bop band — Hank Mobley on tenor saxophone, Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Taylor on drums. The resulting album, Star Bright, is a hidden gem of the Blue Note catalog, with Reece shining on bluesy originals like "The Rake," "Groovesville," and the Monk-inspired "A Variation on Monk," plus swinging takes on the standards "I'll Close My Eyes" and "I Wished on the Moon." This Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes.
