Donald Byrd - At The Half Note Cafe, Vol. 2 - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
Tone Poet Audiophile Series, 180g LP, Deluxe Gatefold Tip-On Jacket
Trumpeter Donald Byrd brought his quintet into Manhattan's Half Note Café in November 1960 for this soulful, swinging live set of hard bop, featuring Pepper Adams on baritone sax, Duke Pearson on piano, Laymon Jackson on bass, and Lex Humphries on drums. Volume 2 jumps into Pearson's brightly swinging "Jeannine" and includes the bluesy theme "Pure D. Funk," the hard-grooving "Kimyas," and a lilting take on "When Sunny Gets Blue." Mastered direct from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI.
