Donald Byrd - Byrd's Eye View (Mono) - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
Mono 180g Vinyl LP, Blue Note Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue
Recorded in 1955 for producer Tom Wilson's short-lived Boston label Transition Records, Byrd's Eye View was trumpeter Donald Byrd's first issued recording as a leader. He's joined by the then-current Jazz Messengers — Hank Mobley, Horace Silver, Doug Watkins and Art Blakey — with local trumpeter Joe Gordon adding friendly brass sparring across this highly enjoyable, blowing-session-style date.
