His fifth collaboration with visionary producer Larry Mizell (co-produced with Fonce Mizell) perfected a sound both funky and sophisticated, yielding enduring favorites like "Wind Parade," "Dominoes" and the title track, all heavily sampled by hip-hop artists in the decades that followed.
