Dr. John - Gris-Gris - Analogue Productions 45rpm LP
180g 45 RPM Double LP, Gatefold — Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series
Gris-Gris, released in 1968 on Atco (an Atlantic sublabel), is the debut album from the king of the psychedelic bayou, Dr. John (Mac Rebennack). A hybrid of New Orleans rhythm & blues and psychedelic rock, it introduced his Dr. John The Night Tripper character, inspired by a reputed 19th-century voodoo doctor. AllMusic awarded it five stars, calling it the most exploratory and psychedelic outing of his career, and it is ranked No. 356 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. This Analogue Productions reissue is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings and housed in a tip-on old-style gatefold double-pocket jacket by Stoughton Printing.
