Grant Green - Feelin' The Spirit - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
All-Analog 180g Vinyl, Blue Note Tone Poet Series
Grant Green was Feelin' the Spirit on this deeply soulful 1962 date, a sibling of sorts to the great guitarist's sanctified Sunday Mornin'. Green interprets a set of African American spirituals alongside a state-of-the-art modern jazz line-up featuring Herbie Hancock on piano, Butch Warren on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums, with Garvin Masseaux on tambourine — a fascinating combination of modern jazz, blues and gospel. Part of Blue Note's acclaimed Tone Poet Series, mastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI in a deluxe Stoughton gatefold tip-on jacket.
