Decca Pure Analogue Series — 180-Gram Vinyl, All-Analogue Cut From The Original Two-Track Tapes

Kyung Wha Chung's debut record, the coupling of the Tchaikovsky and Sibelius violin concertos, has been widely regarded as a milestone album for over 50 years. Chung won the Edgar Leventritt Competition jointly with Pinchas Zukerman in 1967, and her next great opportunity came in 1970 as a substitute for Itzhak Perlman with the London Symphony Orchestra. Soon after, Decca signed her as an exclusive recording artist.

This 1970 recording of the two heavyweight concerti, captured by the legendary Decca team of producer Christopher Raeburn and balance engineer Kenneth Wilkinson at Kingsway Hall, propelled the then 22-year-old Chung onto the world stage. André Previn conducts the London Symphony Orchestra.
