Miles Davis - Volume 1 - Blue Note Classic Series LP
180g Mono Vinyl LP — Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series, Mastered by Kevin Gray from the Original Master Tapes
Trumpeter Miles Davis was near the start of his storied career when he cut the 1952 and 1953 sextet sessions collected here. Originally issued across three 10" LPs, the music was compiled by Alfred Lion onto two volumes as the inaugural releases of Blue Note's 1500 series, with Volume 1 (Blue Note 1501) capturing all the hallmarks of Miles' early style from blazing bebop to beautiful ballads. The lineups feature trombonist J.J. Johnson, saxophonists Jackie McLean and Jimmy Heath, pianist Gil Coggins, bassists Oscar Pettiford and Percy Heath, and drummers Kenny Clarke and Art Blakey. This Classic Vinyl Edition is all-analog mono, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes.
