Backed by a spare, jazzy quartet, Simone delivers some of her most socially conscious statements — "Old Jim Crow," "Pirate Jenny," "Go Limp," and the searing "Mississippi Goddam" — alongside a reprise of her hit "I Loves You, Porgy" and the ballad "Don't Smoke in Bed." This Verve Acoustic Sounds Series reissue is mastered from the original analog tapes by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, pressed on 180g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings, and packaged in a Stoughton tip-on gatefold jacket.
