Continuing the band's 40th anniversary celebrations, Pixies are repressing Bossanova (1990) with newly remastered audio — engineer Kevin Vanbergen returned to the original analogue tapes to deliver stunning new masters that reveal more layers to this much-loved record. The band's third album, again produced by Gil Norton, features the singles "Velouria," "Dig For Fire" and "Allison" (a tribute to jazz and blues pianist Mose Allison), plus their first album cover song, The Surftones' "Cecilia Ann." Surf and space rock rise to the fore, with Black Francis' recurring sci-fi themes inspiring Vaughan Oliver's classic planet sleeve design.
