Stanley Turrentine - Common Touch - Blue Note Classic LP
Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series, All-Analog 180g LP
Tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine imbued every note with a depth of feeling that still reverberates today. Recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in August 1968, Common Touch is a lesser-known classic featuring his then-wife Shirley Scott on organ, alongside guitarist Jimmy Ponder, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and drummer Leo Morris (Idris Muhammad). The easy-going, varied set ranges from groovy numbers to a gently swinging title track and a memorable take on Bob Dylan's “Blowin' in the Wind.” This Blue Note Classic Vinyl reissue is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray directly from the original master tapes and pressed at Optimal in Germany.
