Monk's third Riverside album and the first to feature horns and emphasize his original compositions, Brilliant Corners (1957) is recognized as the first major step in his rise to acceptance as a true jazz giant. With its complex harmonies, angular melodies, and unpredictable rhythms, the album is backed by an all-star ensemble featuring Sonny Rollins, Max Roach, Oscar Pettiford, Ernie Henry, Paul Chambers and Clark Terry. This reissue was mastered AAA by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings.
