One of the most significant events in jazz took place in late 1957 at the Five Spot in New York, where the Thelonious Monk quartet featuring John Coltrane on tenor saxophone was in residence. Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane mixes three quartet tracks with Wilbur Ware on bass and Shadow Wilson on drums, plus larger-group sides from the Monk's Music sessions featuring Gigi Gryce, Coleman Hawkins and Ray Copeland, and a solo Monk performance. This reissue was mastered AAA by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings.
