Syd Barrett was one of the most original songwriters and musicians of his generation. His fearless experimentation with sound, using the limited studio technology of the 1960s, helped shape the future of psychedelic and progressive rock and inspired countless artists who followed. In 1967, while The Beatles were recording Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at Abbey Road, Pink Floyd were just down the corridor.

This collection gathers exclusive interpretations of Barrett's Floyd-era and solo songs alongside archival live performances — Rick Wright singing "Arnold Layne" at the Barbican, David Gilmour and David Bowie's Albert Hall reading of the same song, and Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets tearing into "Astronomy Domine."
