Every record you play accumulates a static charge, and a charged record is a dust magnet. That dust then gets driven into the groove by the stylus, where it makes surface noise and, over time, wears both the record and the diamond. A carbon fibre brush addresses both halves of the problem at once: the fibres are fine enough to reach into the groove and lift loose particles out, and they are electrically conductive, so they bleed the static charge away rather than generating more of it the way a nylon or velvet pad does.

Use it before every side. Rest the fibres on the record with the platter turning, let it ride for two or three rotations without pressing — the weight of the brush is the correct pressure — then draw it slowly outward off the edge, carrying the collected dust with it. Wipe the fibres against the handle before you put it down.

A carbon fibre brush is not a substitute for wet cleaning. It removes what is sitting loose on the surface; it will not touch the mould release compound, fingerprints or embedded grime that a vacuum machine like the VC-E2 gets out. Think of it as the thing you do every time, so that the deep clean is needed less often.

Pro-Ject publishes no dimensions, bristle count or handle material for this brush, so we are not going to invent any. It is a carbon fibre record brush, it costs very little, and every turntable in the shop has one sitting next to it.
