Rega - Ania Pro Moving Coil Cartridge
The latest member of the Rega MC cartridge range, the Ania Pro uses Rega's advanced Vital profile nude diamond stylus — designed to extract as much detail from the vinyl surface as possible, delivering tight bass, warm mid-range and accurate top end frequencies for a well balanced and detailed performance.
Using the unique hand-wound micro coil found in the rest of the MC range, the Ania Pro is housed in a unique, highly rigid PPS body, ensuring accurate construction, with Rega's three point fixing method offering the optimum connection to the headshell while automatically setting overhang. The body is protected by a CAD designed, red rigid cover to protect the internal fine wires, making handling when fitting safe and risk free. The Ania Pro features a super high-powered neodymium magnet and a coil meticulously hand wound onto an iron micro cross — a miniature assembly that allows greater freedom to track the vinyl groove, guaranteeing even more detail is extracted from the vinyl.
All of these features combine to deliver a balanced and dynamic performance that will engage you with your vinyl like never before. The Ania Pro is the perfect partner for the Planar 3, Planar 6 or Planar 8 turntable, and a factory fitted option is available for both Planar 6 and Planar 8.

Design
Rega's moving coil cartridge design is unique in its approach to achieving an ultra-low mass generator which is undamped (no tie wire), using a unique rhomboid pivot for the cantilever powered by a purpose designed, exclusive-to-Rega neodymium magnet system. This type of design requires a zero-tolerance engineered cartridge body — Rega's area of expertise — with "zero" tolerancing required in the alignment and dimension of the pivot pad mounting hole and the magnet mechanism mounting hole relationship.
The Ania Pro body uses a unique polymer/40% glass combination called Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS-Fortron), whose special attributes are its hardness and stability in shape and dimension post-moulding, both critical to performance. PPS is a difficult polymer to mould, and the almost unmouldably complex shape of the Ania body demanded the most complex high pressure injection mould tool Rega has ever designed — eight major parts, four of which must move in perfect synchronicity — made by toolmakers of the highest technical skill using the most accurate Swiss EDM CNC machines, routinely working down to a micron. The design and manufacture of this "work of art" took an entire year.
Combine this special PPS body with its high specification stainless steel inserts, a unique rhomboid pivot system and a low mass moving coil generator assembly, and you have market-leading musicality, performance, speed, clarity and detail as never before at this price.
