Saxophonist Rudolph Johnson's second album for the legendary Black Jazz label, originally released in 1973. Where most Black Jazz titles leaned toward fusion and soul jazz, The Second Coming is expressive free improvisation at its best, opening with the cooking "The Traveller," which recalls John Coltrane's classic quartet. With keyboardist Kirk Lightsey in the band and production by Gene Russell, it is newly remastered and reissued on vinyl.
