180-Gram Vinyl, Pressed at Pallas — Remastered
Recorded just after Sarah Vaughan joined the Roulette label in 1960, The Divine One found her in ideal circumstances. Arranged by Jimmy Jones (who also plays piano), the small-group setting features the strong, clear trumpet of Harry "Sweets" Edison as the perfect foil for her voice. Mostly a ballads collection, it includes fine choices like "Have You Met Miss Jones?" and a memorable left-field reading of the R&B torch song "Ain't No Use."
