Inhaler was Tad's major-label debut following two albums and an EP on Sub Pop, and their first record with drummer Josh Sinder. Producer J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.) gave the band a more focused, driven sound — he can even be heard playing piano on "Luminol" — while the group lost none of the grit that made them the grungiest of the Seattle scene. Widely considered their best and most consistent album, it earned strong reviews on release.
