The Awakening were the only group recorded by the Black Jazz label, and their two albums rank among the most collectible in the entire catalog. Recorded in 1972, Hear, Sense and Feel marked the Chicago band's debut, landing in the sweet spot between the free-jazz and Afrocentric explorations of the AACM and the rhythm-heavy soul-jazz sound of the city's labels. A lost gem finally back in print.
