Originally released on CD in 1996 and reissued on Anton Newcombe's own A Recordings label, Take It from the Man! finds The Brian Jonestown Massacre channeling the Rolling Stones' mid-'60s period with remarkable assurance and attitude. From the opening "Vacuum Boots" onward it's gritty, swaggering, R&B-influenced rock, with Newcombe commanding every delirious moment — emerging not so much as a disciple of Mick Jagger but as a serious threat to the throne.
