Preservation Act 1 is the Kinks' ambitious twelfth studio album, originally released in November 1973. A concept record that uses the small-town nostalgia of Village Green as a template to survey society at large, it opens with Morning Song and runs through a classic Dave Davies riff on Daylight, plus standout Ray Davies gems Sitting in the Midday Sun and Sweet Lady Genevieve. Reviewed by Rolling Stone at the time as a highly listenable, enjoyable album.
