The Meters - Struttin' (Premium Black Vinyl) - LP

All-Analog (AAA) Premium Black Vinyl — Cut from the Original Analog Masters by Kevin Gray

Seminal New Orleans funk: the 1970 album from The Meters, similar in sound to Look-Ka Py Py but distinguished by a far greater emphasis on Art Neville's vocals in place of the shouted call-and-response choruses of earlier records. It houses the R&B hit "Chicken Strut" alongside soulful covers of Lee Dorsey, Ty Hunter, and Jimmy Webb, pushing the group toward one of the most expansive, organic sounds in their discography. "Hand Clapping Song" has since been sampled by everyone from J Dilla to A Tribe Called Quest to Whitney Houston.
