The Meters' 1969 debut is an essential cornerstone of any soul/funk collection. Led by organist Art Neville with guitarist Leo Nocentelli, bassist George Porter, Jr. and drummer Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste, the band smashed together rock 'n' roll, syncopated New Orleans second-line rhythms and jazz improvisation, helping push R&B toward the heavier direction of funk. Features the hit single "Cissy Strut." Cut from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed on limited red vinyl.
