Producer Alan Bates took Thelonious Monk into a London studio in November 1971 for his first trio recording in fifteen years, reuniting him with his old foil Art Blakey on drums alongside Al McKibbon on bass. As many have observed, Blakey is the ideal drummer for Monk, and hearing them together again after so long confirms it — Blakey pushing the pianist hard throughout this spirited session. Reissued on audiophile vinyl by Pure Pleasure.
