Designed as a no-compromise partner for serious analog systems, the Thorens MC 1600 is a fully balanced, dual-mono phono preamplifier — each channel gets its own complete amplifier section, built from precision resistors and low-noise operational amplifiers, for maximum channel separation and vanishingly low noise.
Per-channel DIP switches adjust gain, impedance, capacitance, and a subsonic filter, so any cartridge from high-output MM to low-output MC can be dialed in exactly. Both balanced XLR and RCA inputs and outputs make it the natural partner for Thorens' XLR-equipped decks — TD 1500, TD 1600/1601, and the TD 124 DD family — running the cartridge signal balanced from stylus to line stage. A separately shielded power supply section and configurable RGB front illumination round out a unit that is engineered, crafted, and assembled in Germany to extract maximum detail with exceptionally low noise.
