Reissue of the Seminal 1983 Hip-Hop Soundtrack
Animal Records — founded by Chris Stein of Blondie — released only one album in its brief early-'80s life, but what an album it was. Wild Style remains the most seminal soundtrack in hip-hop history, a snapshot of the scene as it evolved from the streets to the recording studio. Co-produced by Chris Stein and Fab Five Freddy, it captures a who's-who of the era — the Cold Crush Brothers, the Fantastic Freaks, Busy Bee, Double Trouble and more — over breaks and motifs that have since become endlessly sampled hip-hop touchstones. Presented here with the original artwork.
