A Ghost Is Born is Wilco's acclaimed fifth album, recorded with Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Leroy Bach, Glenn Kotche and Mikael Jorgensen, and co-produced with Jim O'Rourke. Begun in Chicago and finished at New York's Sear Sound, the sessions ranged from traditional songcraft to conceptual studio improvisations. The album marked a turning point for the band—its completion ushered in the addition of Pat Sansone and Nels Cline, the lineup that has carried Wilco ever since.
