Alice Coltrane's 1971 masterpiece and fourth solo album, recorded at the Coltrane home studio in Dix Hills, New York, in November 1970. A disciple of Swami Satchidananda, Coltrane crafted wildly open, droning music built on whole tones and minor modes — spiritual, meditative, and unmistakably her own. The band features Pharoah Sanders on soprano saxophone, Cecil McBee and Charlie Haden on bass, Rashied Ali on drums, Vishnu Wood on oud, and Coltrane on piano and harp.
