At the end of the 1970s, the Cabo Verdean band Bulimundo released the first record featuring modern renditions of funana. The impact was massive, reviving a style of music that had nearly disappeared under Portuguese colonial rule and inspiring a whole new musical movement across the islands. Antonio Sanches was among the artists carried by that wave, and Buli Povo! collects his vibrant funana. The gatefold includes liner notes and a large picture of the artist.
