Arnett Cobb - Ballads By Cobb - Analogue Productions LP (Stereo)
$39.99
180g Vinyl, Analogue Productions Prestige Stereo Reissue, Mastered by Kevin Gray
Part of the ultimate audiophile Prestige stereo reissue series from Analogue Productions, drawn from the most collectible Rudy Van Gelder recordings. Originally released in November 1960, Ballads by Cobb is, as its title suggests, all slow ballads, placing the emphasis on the warm tone of the Texas tenor. A player in the tradition of Illinois Jacquet, Arnett Cobb earned the title "Wild Man of the Tenor Sax," but here he takes a smoother, more emotional approach. Recorded November 1, 1960 by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., and produced by Esmond Edwards.
