Audio-Technica - AT618a Disc Stabilizer

A 600-gram machined brass record weight that couples the record to the platter and takes the edge off minor dish warps.

The AT618a is turned from a solid brass block and drops straight over the spindle onto the label area. Its 600 grams press the record into contact with the platter, which damps resonance in the vinyl itself and helps a mildly dished record sit flat enough for the stylus to track consistently. A rubber protector on the underside guards the label and improves grip.

One important caveat: this much added mass is not something every turntable's bearing and motor are built for. Audio-Technica specifically says not to use it on the AT-LP3XBT, AT-LPW30, Sound Burger, or any of its entry-level decks including the AT-LP60, AT-LP60X and AT-LP70X series. If you are running another brand, check with the manufacturer before adding 600 grams to the platter.
