The flagship of Audio-Technica's original VM700 Series, wearing a Special Line Contact stylus that traces the groove with surgical precision and minimal record wear.

The VM760SLC sits at the top of Audio-Technica's VM line, a range that harks back to A-T's early days as a manufacturer primarily of high-end phono cartridges while incorporating modern technology. Its dual moving magnet design places two magnets to match the left and right channels of the stereo record groove, with paratoroidal coils and a center shield plate between channels to reduce crosstalk. This is the previous-generation VM700 Series flagship, since succeeded by the current AT-VM760xSL refresh.

Its ultra-lightweight 1.5 x 0.28 mil Special Line Contact stylus, in nude rectangular-shank construction, allows the cartridge to trace the record groove with incredible accuracy and minimum abrasion, extending frequency response to 30,000 Hz. The stylus rides on an aluminum tapered pipe cantilever, and the die-cast aluminum alloy housing reduces vibration and provides shielding.
