This album collects classic melodies from the repertoire of Ben Webster's longtime employer, Duke Ellington. It draws on live radio sessions with the Danish Radio Big Band (1969 and 1971), most based on Ellington's original scores, plus live concert sessions with two different backing trios featuring pianists Teddy Wilson and Kenny Drew. One of the undisputed jazz greats on tenor saxophone, Webster is amply illustrated here in both big band and small group settings.
