That's It! is only Booker Ervin's third outing as a band leader. The sessions are clearly informed by the tenor saxophonist's time with Charles Mingus' Jazz Workshop — indeed, Mingus is quoted extensively in the album's liner notes with singular praise for Ervin's playing.
