The CXC does exactly one thing: extract the digital audio from your CDs with complete accuracy. There's no DAC on board — instead, coaxial and optical S/PDIF outputs feed the bitstream to the DAC or DAC-equipped amplifier of your choice, so conversion quality is entirely up to you and can be upgraded over time.

At its core is Cambridge Audio's S3 Servo, a custom precision disc drive engineered purely for CD audio, maintaining exact rotation speed for flawless data retrieval. The acoustically damped metal chassis isolates the internals to preserve signal integrity, gapless playback keeps live albums and continuous mixes seamless, and the minimalist aluminium-and-steel casework matches the rest of the CX series.
