The Oklahoma City quartet of Ray B. (vocals), L. Manhole (guitar), Stin (bass) and Cap'n Ron (drums) delivers another crushing, cathartic noise rock record, this time turning its eye on the collective indifference of the 21st century through images of coastlines devouring cities, dead-end jobs and data-driven inauthenticity. Oklahoma City looms over the album like a character, right down to the cover photo of Devon Tower rising above a burnt-out building. The band wrote with hooks in mind, drawing on the melodic side of pre-2000s indie rock, alt-rock and new wave, from "Christabel '26" to the trip-hop pulse of "Same Rules".
