On Birth of Violence (2019) she strips her songs down to their essentials, little more than her voice and acoustic guitar, fleshed out by longtime collaborator Ben Chisholm. The result trades her larger, more imposing sounds for a more intimate atmosphere, yielding some of her most devastating work to date.
