Chesky Records brings back a long-elusive 2006 trio session for its 40th anniversary.

Pianist David Hazeltine, joined by bassist Nat Reeves and drummer Joe Farnsworth, reimagines classics from the architect of bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim. Rather than reaching for Rio, Hazeltine flips the script with a question: what if Jobim had been born and raised in New York, writing his music specifically for that city? The result recasts familiar melodies in a hard-swinging, distinctly uptown light.
