Recorded in 1965 during Dexter Gordon's golden Blue Note period but shelved until the late 1970s, Clubhouse teams the tenor giant with trumpeter Freddie Hubbard and a crack rhythm section of Barry Harris, Bob Cranshaw, and Billy Higgins. His reading of the Sinatra ballad "I'm a Fool to Want You" ranks among his finest. Produced by Joe Harley for the Tone Poet series in deluxe tip-on packaging.
