Newly remastered — Indie-exclusive orange with black streaks vinyl, limited to 750 copies
Doug Carn made four records for the Black Jazz label, more than any other artist, and Adam's Apple (1974) was his last and most adventurous for the imprint. Featuring reedman Ronnie Laws and guitarist Calvin Keys, with Carn's increasingly electronic keyboard forays, it recalls Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and electric Miles — all overlaid with an uplifting gospel vibe. Energetic, funky and futuristic; in short, sublime.
