Elmo Hope Sextet - Informal Jazz - Analogue Productions LP
$39.99
180-Gram Vinyl, Mastered by Kevin Gray, Pressed at QRP
Overshadowed in his lifetime by friends Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk, Elmo Hope was a gifted pianist and composer in his own right. Though titled Informal Jazz, the 1956 session is anything but casual: the dynamic rhythm team of Philly Joe Jones and Paul Chambers anchors a front line of tenor greats John Coltrane and Hank Mobley alongside trumpeter Donald Byrd, with Hope's solo spots the highlight of the date. Cut from the analog masters by Kevin Gray and pressed at Quality Record Pressings.
