Originally released in 1972, Honky Château is a rollicking collection of ballads, rockers, blues, country-rock and soul, with Elton John at the top of his form. Breakout hits "Honky Cat" and "Rocket Man" anchor an album named for the 18th-century French château where it was recorded, Château d'Hérouville. It became Elton's first US number one — the first of seven consecutive US chart-toppers — and introduced his core band of Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson.
